Ghanaians on Instagram have refused to let Dele Momodu rest since the country’s presidential elections held days ago, and this is because of his vocal support for the incumbent president, John Dramani Mahama.
Though the final results are yet to be called in, media houses like Joy FM report that the opposition, Nana Akufo-Addo, leads at 51.42 percent and Mahama at 46.72 percent in 176 of 275 constituencies counted so far. While GhanaWeb published the result of 160 constituencies which shows Akufo-Addo leading by 55.8 percent, with Mahama on 42.5 percent.
Aljazeera says Nana Akufo-Addo is ‘quietly confident’ that he has won. Hence Ghanaians are dragging Dele Momodu through the mud, mocking him for his support for Mahama.
Momodu has always faced the ire of the citizens who accuse him of ‘meddling’ with Ghana’s politics. In May, he had dismissed the accusations, saying he was only doing his job as a journalist. And in November, it got more brutal after he shared the childhood photos of the top candidates which many perceived as some sort of mockery.
Now, they are roasting him over the belief that Mahama has failed at the polls. While we wait for the final results, check out their reactions:
